horror film between 1985 and 1992?

I can't remember the name of the movie for the life of me. But, in one
of the scenes do a group of bullying kids (possibly 4 or 5 of them @
ages of around 12 to 15) chase a little boy up a tree in an open
field. The little boy wouldn't come down and so the kids started
throwing rocks at the little boy. One of the rocks from one of the
kids struck the little boy in the chest and he fell out of the tree
and died. Years had passed where the kids had grew up to be adults.
But during their adult hood did the little boy's ghost haunt the guy
responsible for his death.

In another scene did the guy responsible for the boy's death tried
waiting in a room all night for the boy to show up. Take note that he
did not know that the boy was a ghost. The boy showed up behind him
and knocked him out cold from what seem to have been a pole-like
object, gashing his face. In one other scene did he actually have a
drawn out confrontation with the kid on top of him with a knife. It
was then discovered that he had been hurting himself the entire time
rather than this boy's ghost.
